	Don and Megan - Foolish Games math_geek10 AKA girlbehindtheshades Alright, stick with me; this is my first vid to have a sort of story to it. But, before I get to that, I want to say that I did intend for the credits to be first. It made the ending work better. Well: READ FIRST The whole premise of the vid is that Megan has sat by and watched Don go through all these relationships that always end in him getting his heart broken. Chapter 3 Location, Location, Location...

“Why did this take ‘til now?”
“No judge is gunna give us a warrant in the middle of the night based on what we had but the lab results on the envelope plus the new images give us something to go on.” Sinclair explained, scurrying at his computer trying to find an address for the delivery company that send both batches of photos to Don.
Colby sighed, “I don’t mean that, I meant for us to connect Danny to the deliveries, former paper boy steals uniform and gives us what we need to incriminate him, how stupid is that?”
“It’s not, its brilliant.” Charlie contradicted out of no where, “Think about it like this: if you are looking for lets say the person that stole your wallet if it’s between the pick pocket, your best friend or a complete stranger. The pick pocket is obvious choice but if your buddy defends himself by saying he was with you the whole time you should believe him right? Wrong, he’s the one in the best position to steal from you as he knows you best and came into closest contact with you; realising this, as gestures of ‘good-will’, he provides an alibi and offers to help you find the wallet but at the same time pointing to the pick pocket by perhaps retracing your steps emphasising the moments where the pick pocket had a chance to rob you, leaving him clear.”
“So by sending the photo’s Danny is helping us?”
“Exactly, call it what you want but he feels guilty.”
“But how does it help, what can you do with that information?”
“I can return to the scene and back track from what’s in the shot to the position of the ’shooter’ and see, for each image, what vantage point he chose and why.”
“Cool, take these copies, ones of the new pictures are there too, all time stamped like the originals.” Granger passed him a pile from Don’s unoccupied desk.
“Where is Don?”
“Right here,” on queue, he stumbled out of the lift with Mia in his wake, “where’s Mr Mullins?”
“Megan is with Danny, waiting for you in interrogation,” then flicking a thumb at Mia he asked, “What’s she doing here?”
Leaving her a few steps behind, he carefully answered, “She didn’t want to be left alone and, honestly, I didn’t wanna leave her by herself either.”
“What d’you mean? There are officers there 24/7 and we’re on call, she’s safe there, even if she doesn’t feel like it.”
“David, that doesn’t mean she wasn’t alone, plus having her here might get ‘Prince Polaroid’ to explain himself.”
“What ever it’s your call, I’ll get her something to drink.” Sinclair guided the still sleepy teen away.

Moving to his desk Don tapped Colby’s shoulder, “Hey, Where are those copies?”
“Charlie has ‘em he’s doing something clever but Megan has some in there to use Danny.”
“Alright, I better get in there.”

Megan was more than unhappy about having to deal with Danny for a second time and Don keeping her waiting wasn’t countering her feelings any.
He stared, almost in fear of the file she was, so far, keeping to herself but remained silent as before.
She had not informed him why he had been pulled in for a second round, just glared back in the hopes that the tension in the air would break him before she had even said anything. It did not but, fortunately, Don stepped in.
“I understand you used to be a paper-boy, huh Danny?” The cold, near-rhetorical question was a surprise even to the well-informed agent Reeves.
“I don’t get it, what has being a delivery guy got to do with Mia?” baffled the teen barely opened up.
“Maybe you liked to go past her house, maybe you went back there to prove a point and take a few shots with her nice camera…” taking her queue Megan began revealing the first set of images onto the desk, “but that wasn’t enough, was it?”
She then slowly uncovered the latest ones, turning them over right beneath his nose, “you take the pictures and send them here to let us, and Mia, know you’re still around and not giving up or… is it another reason?” she answered finished Don’s inquiry with one of her own.
Time stamped like the first, the new pictures were from outside her house: of her family and the clean-up team; of Mia entering the FBI building that morning, they must have been hot off the press.
Danny let his eyes fall to the display before him, they filled with disgust, “I don’t have her camera, I never did but, if I did, I would not have any reason to send pictures from it to you, if this guy is messed up enough to take these, to stalk her, then send them to the FBI he’s a lot sicker in the head than I could ever be.”

Mia was neither hungry nor thirsty, despite Agent Sinclair’s efforts, she could only think of what Danny was going through in there, accused.
Slumped in chair she could only just see above the partitions but soon recognised the bobbing tufts and mops of hair; a few blondes and brunettes that she didn’t know… Agent Reeves, Agent Eppes and… DANNY?
Before David noticed she slipped away to confront them.
“Danny?” like she needed to ask.
“Mia, I…” He began, as if he stood a chance of answering. Don jumped between them and grabbed Mia by the arm, much to Danny’s disgust who pelted useless fists at his departing back, only to be pounced on by David who pinned his arms behind him, handcuff style.
Mia continued to protest struggling and shouting but Agent Eppes just continued dragging her away, realising the oddity of his silence, she lowered a few octaves, “Why haven’t you said anything?” then with a long stare they both remained quiet.

Without knowing how, she found herself in a second interrogation room. Don dropped her in a chair.
“What were you thinking?” he wasn’t yelling, despite near shaking in frustrated-anger.
“I just wanted to…” but he cut her off.
“What, get yourself killed is that what you want?” he was just below shouting.
“Danny still loves me he’s not behind this, I know It.” she lied, hopeful that it would become true.
“In that case I guess you don’t need me or the FBI, if you know who it is then we can all go home, right?” defensive sarcasm, if a bit flippant.
“I didn’t say that.” she began to cry.
“Why don’t you just stay here and figure out what are saying while I go find out who is stalking you?”
She was genuinely shocked, “I’m being stalked, since when?” he had forgotten that she hadn’t yet been informed.
“That doesn’t matter!” He was too angry to explain, “Just know that, as long as you continue to reject our help, you’re not safe, do you understand?”
She nodded.
“Good, I’m going to do my job, you stay here.”
She nodded again.

After that interesting episode, Megan returned to her desk next to Colby who was sitting watching it all unfold.
“Kids and animals, huh?” he chuckled.
Deliberately miss hearing him she replied, “I dunno about kids but teenagers certainly are.” She let out a tired grin, “What you been working’ on?”
“tracking down the address of where the photo’s originated, but it doesn’t seem to add up, they have records of the packages but they contained stuff that wasn’t just papers, take a look.” he pointed to the record of deliveries, “This one has the same package number as the first set but was a box, marked fragile,” He scrolled down to a similar record, “And again yesterday an uncollected box from a year ago was taken out to be delivered this morning.”
“It’s a local small time deal; they don’t exchange personalised envelopes and boxes, do they?”
“No, they don’t have that kinda money, so?”
“If someone wanted to reuse an old envelope from another company they could right?”
“Yeh, but that doesn’t explain how they had the same numbers; each one is different, covered over then re-stamped each time it’s used to avoid mix-ups like this, and each company has different ways of stamping no-one gets confused.”
“Makes sense,” she shrugged, “can we get the name of who ever delivered them?”
“We’ll have to get down there.”
“After I tell Don, maybe he’s calmed down.”

After storming off, hurricane Eppes delayed the fulfilment of his promise and descended upon the coffee machine. He wondered; Why was he so angry at her, she wasn’t so wrong in her actions was she? The pot began to boil as he simmered down, maybe he just hadn’t had enough sleep, yeh that had to be it… someone entered his small sanctuary, or perhaps it was that he kept being interrupted…
“Colby and I have a lead on the pictures,” It was Megan, many a good conversation they had shared within these four glass divides… “There’re some irregularities in the postal companies…” Noting the lack of interest she poured two coffees and wafted one under his nose, “Something else bothering you?” She added, nonchalantly sipping at the second cup.
“No, sorry…” Don finally moved, taking some ‘splenda’ and a stirrer he corrected himself, “Yeh, Mia.”
“You think you were too hard on her earlier?”
Adding the fake sugar to his cup and mixing it in he just nodded, mesmerised by the swirling motion he had just created.
“You were right, you know.”
She gulped down some more.
“Then why doesn’t it feel right?” After sucking the dregs of sweetener from the plastic utensil and flicking it pensively he looked up, meeting her eyes for a second.
“It will.”

Just got my new TV Guide, so here's the latest Numb3rs news. THE FONZIE IS COMING, THE FONZIE IS COMING!!! Yes, ladies and gentlemen, it is true. Henry Winkler himself will be guest starring on next week's episode as a disgruntled....FBI agent?! Well, let's hope that this isn't the episode that jumps the shark. Get it? Get it?

Oh, and her character is now Nikki BETANCOURT, not DONAT as it was previously. I'm just going to wait until October 3 (yeah, that's right, OCTOBER) to find out who's right :D

Guardian

“So the boy friend has an alibi but he still could be good for it just… keep an eye on him something isn’t quite right with his story… That’s it, I’m heading out.” Don signed off to the room and left.
In the lobby a previously unnoticed receptionist, waving a package, called his name from behind her desk “This was left for you, Sir, have a nice evening.” She smiled turning back to her mountain of paper work that may have once been an ‘in-tray’.
“Thanks… Err… who’s it from?”
“No idea, a delivery boy dropped it off, he must have been new; I’ve never seen him before plus he almost forgot to get someone to sign for it!” She shrugged handing him a large, abused, ‘Fed-ex’-marked envelope he nodded a good-bye and strolled away, thumbing the pages inside. His nonchalant wander was cut short. He sprinted back to the friendly woman demanding, “When was this? How long has this been here?”
“Just a few minutes why?”
Startling her, he scrambled for his phone, “It’s Don, where’s Mia? … Ok do not let her out of your sight, you hear me Colby? Not even for a second… no don’t tell her anything just keep her extra close until I arrive and stay put no-matter what… We may have a stalker on our hands…” he hung up and, turning back to the clerk, added, “Sorry, thank you, I might be back, later.” then left her stumped and ran back into the lift.

“Megan, MEGAN?!” He panted after his colleague.
“Don, slow down, I thought you‘d be home by now!” Astonished, she took the pile of papers off his hands as he moved back to his desk.
She studied them, eyes widening with every new image, eventually she concluded, “Some one’s been watching her and I bet with her own camera too.”
“Can we prove that?” Don wanted to know how they could tie all the crimes to the same guy in one swoop.
“Not yet…” Reeves continued to examine the photos when some thing grabbed her attention “Don, you’ve got to get to that apartment!”
“...Of course!!!” Remembering the earlier conversation with Colby, he hurriedly abandoned the desk, again, then stopped, “wait, i never said I was headed there…”
She held up the re-ordered wad of evidence, “The first two.”
Like snapshots from a horror movie he saw Mia entering the FBI building and another of her being escorted into a blacked out car with Granger.
“I called ahead that he should be on the alert, but not to tell Mia; the last thing we need is her acting scared and tipping this guy off.” photos in-hand he left for good.

Colby let him in; good, nothing had happened while he was on his way over.
“Everything’s quiet: no-one hanging around outside; no callers; the balconies have been clear since yesterday; not even anyone coming home from work or letting a cat out.” Granger filled him in.
“Good, let’s keep it that way, i'm ordering in uniforms to help out in the morning,” He patted his shoulder, “Nice job”
“Thanks,” as they moved away from the door he added, quietly, “What made you think stalker?”
He sighed, “Someone sent me pictures dated from the morning we found her up to 9AM today; her being put into the ambulance until she came here with you, I dropped ‘em off with forensics on my way down, where is she now?”
“On the couch, we were in a tournament, she was getting quite good but then she fell asleep.”
“She does that.”
The two men moved carefully through the living space and Colby switched off the buzzing TV replying, “Well I doubt she’s been getting any sleep at night.”
After moving out of ear-shot Don continued, “Look it’ll be dark soon, if you wanna head out, I can take care of her.”
“That’s ok; I’ll trade over soon anyway.” He shrugged off the offer but appreciated it.
“What’re you waiting for a rematch in the morning?” He grinned, “Ok, I’m going over to see Dad and Charlie.”

After another signature ‘Dad’ dish the trio, with a round of beers, settled in for the night, “Donnie, you’ve been over a lot more since you started this case…” Alan began after a glug.
“...So?”
“I think Dad is suggesting a correlation between the two…” Charlie explained.
“Yes, thank you genius, but couldn’t it just be that I wanna, I dunno, spend time with the only family I have?” A hint of anger touched his sarcasm.
“Did you ever consider that you’re all she has at the moment…?” Alan insightfully added.
“What are you guys talking about? So now you want me to get too close to a case to get lost in my work, is that it?”
“... No, of course not! All I’m saying is think about it, don‘t you need more than just family and the FBI, how about a friend?”
Don glared as if trying to attempt mind reading, “Who are we talking about here, dad, me or Mia? I have friends, don’t you worry, and once this has blown over so will she.”
A long moment passed full of nervous sips and swigs then, Aggravated by the interrogation, he stormed off to get a refill and Alan turned on the TV to replace the awkward silence with ambient fuzz.

Charlie braved the few steps into the kitchen, “Dad worries.”
But his brother barely poked his head out from the fridge, “Yep, you want another beer?”
“No, Don, listen to me.” He dared yet more, this time warranting a face-to-face response.
“What do you want from me Charlie; you’re afraid that I’ll get lost in my work but when I don’t you say I’m doing it wrong, what is that?” Surprisingly he didn’t raise his voice, just growled.
“That wasn’t what I meant; it’s just that Mia…” Charlie squirmed.
“Mia is what? An exception, is special? Why? Just because she’s an orphan all alone in the world and made a big sacrifice for her little sister? No Charlie, if every victim was a personal friend I’d be a dead man!” The growl rumbled into a shout then simmered down to a series of snaps, “It‘s just more complicated than you think.” He sighed, snatching a beer from a plastic shelf that clung to the still open door, cooled off, he finished, “I know dad worries but I’m ok and I am sorry; the case is getting to me, they all do.”
After a moment of silent acknowledgments; conversing only in eye-contact and nods Charlie added, “You know I could go for another cold one, thanks.”
Don passed him the pre-opened bottle and got another for himself, “Say is there a game on tonight?”
“I dunno, but if not there’s always highlights, reruns, and maybe even hockey” Don joked, better for the banter, about to go back through to the living room he turned and, genuinely, inquired, “By the way, what were you gunna say Mia was?”
“What, just now?” Charlie tried a shrug and failed.
“Yeh”
“You don’t know? Lee, her brother, was a student of mine” He nervously cleared his throat, “...before he… died” his tone was almost ashamed.
Both brothers were standing just outside the kitchen the elder was staring, shaking his head, “Oh my… Charlie, why didn’t you tell me?”
“Don’t worry about it, come on, didn’t you wanna see a game?”
Don’s face changed, alight with new knowledge, he answered grinning, “Not right now, genius.”
That time he meant it, without a hint of sarcasm, and scrabbled around for his phone once again.
“Megan, yeh I know I’m sorry, I think… I have it.”
